      Yes, squirrels are blind and deaf when they’re born. The ability to see is very complex and takes a while to develop. Even human babies (though usually not blind) can’t see very well for a few months after they’re born!

      Jonathon is correct. Many animals are actually born blind and deaf!

      Yes, it’s very curious. It also means that human babies are actually pretty well developed at birth relative to a lot of species.
