Cancer is uncontrolled cell growth. Normally your body tells cells to stop growing, but a cancerous cell does not stop. Cancer can do all sorts of stuff, like take nutrients from the area around other cells (cancer cells need a lot of energy), some cancer cells can get logged in your heart (when a cancer cell moves around your body, it can go anywhere), or it can weaken your immune system leaving you open to other pathogens. It can do a lot of different things.
