      Hi Tyler,
I wasn’t a straight A student, I think my average grade was B+… I got plenty of B’s and sometimes C’s. I think it’s important to get good grades so you have lots of options in the future, but at the same time it’s not the most important thing and sometimes grades don’t reflect how much you really know about something. I feel like it’s more important to focus on learning and be curious, but I usually tried to get good grades.

I was *nearly* a strait A student, but not totally. I did well in my science and mathematics courses, but routinely took classes that I knew would challenge me instead of “easy A’s” type classes.

As someone on the other side of the evaluation process now, it really does matter more to me to see *which* classes students are taking and how they do in the classes that most matter to the field they’re applying to work in.

I was more or less a straight A student in high school. In college, I think I maybe got two As in four years. Like Melissa, I stopped being as interested in grades and started getting interested in the subjects that really got me excited. I wasn’t good at ANY of them for a while. But I kept at it, and ended up as a real-life scientist!

      Hey Tyler.

I was a trouble maker near the end of 5th grade, so I was not a straight A student then. In high school I was unless it was French class! In college I also had a hard time adjusting right away but once I got into it, I did great.

      Hi Tyler,

I was a straight A student until I got a B in physics in my first year of college. I felt like grades were the way to get into the college I wanted so I worked hard for them. Once in college I tried to enjoy the studies more but knew I needed good grades for medical school. The best thing I learned was to actually try and learn from every class even if that didn’t always get you an “A”. As long as I learned something new, interesting, or useful everyday seemed better.
