To analyze the sequence of a piece of DNA we first have to extract it out of the cell. By analyzing the DNA sequence of many individuals we can start to understand what similarities there are between us all, what common differences are, and what the rare differences are. In the proper studies, we can also analyze DNA sequences to infer which regions are more likely to be involved in human diseases.
