I’m not entirely sure how you mean your question. I love my job as a scientist, and I spend a lot of time doing experiments and thinking about the results.
But I don’t think science has to be serious in the sense that I stand around a laboratory stroking my beard and nodding with my Most Serious Face at very serious numbers from an extremely serious computer.
We have pizza parties in my lab every month, lots of birthday cake, and every day someone shares a funny story or joke that we all laugh at. We are serious about a world without Alzheimer’s disease, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun along the way.
