Question: Have you harmed gila monsters at all in your work?

Nope. We have strict protocols on what can be done. My collaborator collected a small sample of blood from six Gila monsters, all approved through our Animal Care protocol board, which at most caused minor discomfort to the Gila monsters. My work is in extracting the DNA and RNA from the blood, and analyzing it.

I have only ever worked with DNA, so no. I don’t even touch animals, except for my two cats and two dogs at home, and they just get lots of snuggles.
