Stephanie Moon answered on 25 Apr 2016:

Mosquitoes become carriers of Zika virus when they drink the blood of an infected animal. They don’t get sick from the virus though. The virus will replicate inside of the mosquito’s salivary glands (where spit is made in near the mouth of the mosquito) until there’s a lot of virus, then it will get injected into the blood of the next animal (or human) that the mosquito bites.
