      Hi Sloth,

I’d have to say that my favorite part of the brain is called the default network. Here’s a rough map of the default network from New Scientist, where the default network is in purple:

What’s cool is that the purple regions of the brain synchronize and start firing together when we’re thinking about ourselves. Isn’t that crazy? There’s a part of our brain that’s dedicated to thinking about itself. It turns out that the default network may be the key to understanding how we think about the future and the past, and it is a very delicate network – it seems to malfunction in certain older adults and may be one indicator of Alzheimer’s disease. We’re not entirely sure yet, but that’s one of the many projects I’m working on!

Do you have a favorite part of the brain?
